The project consisted of part demolition of existing house to create a two bedroom house and construction of five new 3 bed room houses, with own car parking space, front and rear gardens.
The biggest challenge was to convince local planning authority that having five new houses would not be an over development. This itself brought other challenges to assure that the sites surrounded by other gardens from surrounding roads were not given an over-bearing or enclosed effect. The shape of the site added to these challenges to assure that good distance was maintained from adjoining properties to avoid overlooking and loss of privacy.
This challenge continued to construction stage as it was much difficult to bring the services to the rear of the garden from the narrow road opening at the front; the delivery of materials and the methods adopted for construction were carefully considered.
